scurvy_knaves, Windy Ridge trail (Mount St. Helens). 2010

Windy Ridge trail runs along the north side of Mount St. Helens. It can be challenging at some sections but it’s really just a good, long, difficult hike, nothing more. To the north of it is Spirit Lake and on a clear day one can see Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams. Much of the trail goes through the area that is still used for scientific studies so one should stick to the path. Along the way one can see the areas that were devastated by the volcanic eruption. Much of the trail runs through a spooky, Lunar-like landscape, but some portions are slowly recovering and are quite majestic just like Mount St. Helens is.
